Anyone who knows Meg, also may know that she does everything verrrrry sloooooowly. When we want to go somewhere, we have to wait for her to put her shoes on. When it's bed time, we have to wait for her to change into PJs. In general, she slows things down & people have to wait on her. So, I started calling her Speedbump.... because she slows everything down. At first she thought this was great, until she asked why I call her Speedbump & I told her. Then she decided Titus needed a nickname, so I dubbed him Skidmark. This all happened months ago, but the names are still used every now and then. Like last night...
Last night I was on Titus' bed scratching his back, when Meg started calling from the top bunk "Skidmark. Skidmark! Skidmark, are you down there?" She finally swung down and saw me there & I greeted her with "hey, Speedbump". There were then a lot of giggles and Speedbumps and Skidmarks and finally Titus asked, "Meg, what's a speedbump?". Meg's reply: "Well, Titus, a speedbump is someone who slows everything down! Like a bump on the road that slows all the cars down." Then she realized what she said & turned to me and said, "I don't like being called Speedbump anymore, I need a new nickname." Before we could discuss options though, Titus came out with another question: "What's a skidmark?" This time Meg didn't know, so they both looked to me. Kevin overheard the question too, so I smiled at him & proudly answered "a poop stain in your underpants." At which point there was a roar of laughter & Meg whispered to me "one time Titus had a HUGE one of those". I replied, "I know, that's why we call him that" which erupted into even more laughter. At which point Kevin yelled at us (ok, he yelled at me) and we had to quiet down. But, Titus decided he didn't want to be a skidmark anymore, he wanted to be Speedbump, and Meg decided she doesn't want to be Speedbump or Skidmark, so she needs a new nickname. Any ideas?
Ben is a 6th grade teacher and water taxi captain. He's also been an honorary Dingle since high school (which apparently gives him the right to show up for dessert on major holidays). He was Kevin's roommate before Rebecca kicked him out, and was previously known as "Kevin's Ben". Now he's "Torrie's Ben" and has been "Uncle Ben" to Meg & Titus since long before we started dating.
